Bertram Katzung
Dr. Katzung earned his M.D. from the State University of New York, Syracuse in 1957, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from UCSF in 1962. He joined UCSF’s Department of Pharmacology in 1958 and became Acting Chair from 1978 to 1981. His research focused on cardiac function and the effects of drugs like digitalis and antiarrhythmic agents. Dr. Katzung directed the department’s teaching program for professional students from 1972 to 1995 and continues to teach medical students after retirement.
